Future Proofing the Barbican: Climate Change
By David Preston
Published in Communications
The Barbican Estate is the largest user of electricity in the City Of London’s managed property portfolio. The City of London cannot achieve its climate goals without changes here, and they have budgets to do so!
We want any changes to be positive for us. This will require us to be in at ground zero and influence their thinking, not wait to be told.
We know that many Barbican residents have current expertise in this fast-moving area. Please tell us who you are, what your experience is (whether retrofitting insulation, roofs, windows, heating, cooling, etc), and whether you are prepared to join a working group to help take our thinking forward. We envisage an early meeting with the City’s net zero team to help build momentum.
Previous involvement in Barbican/City committees is not required. Indeed, new blood will be hugely welcome. The only qualifications are expertise and experience especially with listed buildings.
The working party will be supported by David Preston and a couple of experienced Barbican/City hands to keep your time involvement as low as you can spare.
If interested in being involved, please do email secretary@barbicanassociation.co.uk
